Toffee Pizza

A party dessert to surprise your guests with!



150g caramel or white baking chocolate
100g WOODEN SPOON white margarine
190ml castor sugar
5ml caramel essence
½ can Caramel Treat ™
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
315ml cake flour
2ml baking powderl
1ml salt
50g roasted, blanched hazelnuts, chopped


  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180º C. Grease a 30cm diameter pizza oven tray.
  2. Melt the chocolate and margarine together over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  3. Stir in the remaining ingredients one at a time.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared oven tray and bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Serve freshly baked, cut into 8 wedges, with a scoop of hazel nut or vanilla ice cream, a few fresh strawberries or canned gooseberries.


For children: Substitute hazelnuts with 125ml coconut. Serve wedges with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a spoonful of Caramel Treat and sprinkling of Smarties ™.

Tip: If you experience difficulty finding roasted, blanched hazelnuts in store, pecan nuts may be used as is.
